Pemanfaatan Permainan Puzzle dalam Pembelajaran IPS pada Materi Membaca Peta di Kelas IV SD

Abstract


Reading maps is an important material in Social Science learning for elementary school in the fourth-grade syllabus. The purpose of students studying maps is that they can read maps, such as know some areas, and descriptions of the Earth’s surface, and also know about the symbols on the map. Based on the researcher’s initial observation at the State of Elementary School of Lialang, teachers do not use learning media, they are using only verbal methods. This makes learning passive and boring. Thus, the researchers used the puzzle of maps as a learning medium and method, with the hope of knowing the learning process and increasing the outcome of students' learning maps. The research method used is classroom action research, using a model from Kemmis and McTaggart. The result of this research in pre-cycle students' learning activity, students got 48%, then after the puzzle of maps implemented in cycle I, increased to 68% and increased again to 85,3% in cycle II. In addition, student learning outcomes also increase. At the beginning of the pre-cycle before using the puzzle of maps, only 28% did. In the first cycle after implementing puzzles, the percentage of completes increased 48%, as well as it increased again in the second cycle to 84%.
