Abstract

Multicultural education is considered as one way to deal with the negative influence of diversity issues, especially in early childhood. Therefore, teacher responsiveness certainly has an important role to play in multicultural education that is in line with the diversity of the children in school. This study aims to reveal the responsive attitude of kindergarten teachers related to the implementation of multicultural education. Using qualitative method with interview technique, data from three different kindergarten teachers in different school backgrounds were collected. The results show that the teachers responds to diversity through their believed of religious values. Even so, this is contrary to the concept of multicultural education because teachers consider that equating children’s identity as a good thing.
