METAKOGNITIF SEBAGAI KETERAMPILAN BERFIKIR TINGKAT TINGGI PADA PEMBELAJARAN ABAD 21

Abstract


This article is a review article that aims to analyze metacognitive models based on metacognitive components in learning environment and to elaborate the strategies to enhance metacognitive skills. Metacognitive skill is one of the special skills needed in the 21st century in learning activity. Metacognition is defined as ‘thinking about thinking’ which is sets of knowledge and regulation of cognitive activity. Metacognition skill in learning aims at enhancing students’ learning process and comprehension, hence helping the student to achieve the learning objectives. Metacognitive is classified into two categories, namely metacognitive knowledge and metacognitive regulation. Metacognitive knowledge refers to a cognitive process comprising individual variable, task variable and strategy variable. On the other hand, metacognitive regulation refers to procedural process to regulate cognitive process based on four components, namely planning, monitoring, evaluating and revising.
