P Pirmansyah, S Suhendra

Abstract

This study aims to understand the learning of the IMPROVE method to improve mathematical understanding and communication skills of high school students in high-linear subject matter programs. The research method used was quasi-experimental, with 4 class XI participants in one of the Private High Schools of Sukabumi Regency consisting of 2 classes of men and 2 classes of women. Two classes of women were determined as research samples. One class becomes an experimental group that accepts IMPROVE learning methods, and another class becomes a control group that accepts conventional learning. The results showed that; 1) Mathematical learning and communication of students who receive IMPROVE learning are higher than students who receive conventional learning; 2) Improvement of mathematical understanding and communication skills of students who get the IMPROVE learning method is higher compared to students who get conventional learning. This is in terms of the average increase (N-gain) 3) Obtained positively from the ability of understanding and mathematical communication skills of students who obtain learning methods IMPROVE.
