Pengaruh Media Sosial Facebook Dalam Pembelajaran Ips Dengan Materi Isu Kontroversial Terhadap Sikap Toleransi Siswa
Abstract
This study aims to examine the increase in tolerance of students who obtain learning by applying the use of Facebook social media in social studies learning with controversial issues. Social studies learning is designed using Facebook social media with controversial issue material as a foundation in developing the design of learning activities to improve students' tolerance attitudes based on controversial issues in Facebook social media. The design of this study used nonequivalent Pretest and Posttest control group design with the study population were all VII grade students enrolled in the 2019-2020 school year. The samples used in the study are students of class VII.3 as a control class and students of class VIII.2 as an experimental class determined through the use of purposive samplSing techniques in research sampling. The researcher compared the increase in student tolerance with the average pretest and posttest results between the two classes by giving different treatments. The experimental class gained learning by applying the use of social media Facebook with material on controversial issues, while the control class obtained learning by applying the use of powerpoint media. The results showed, the use of social media Facebook with controversial issue material could increase student tolerance which was better than learning by using powerpoint media.
