Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.
Author Guidelines
General Requirements
- Articles submitted to Sosietas: Jurnal Pendidikan Sosiologi should be 5,000 to 7,000 words(excluding references) or 14-17 pages, using 1.15 line spacing.
- Each submission must include an abstract (maximum 250 words) summarizing the background, research objectives, methodology, key findings, and conclusions.
- Below the abstract, provide two to five keywords, separated by commas.
- The main text must use PT Serif, font size 12, and follow a single-column layout.
- Articles must be written in Bahasa Indonesia or English.
Author Information
- The journal follows a double-blind peer review process; therefore, author details must not appear in the main document.
- The title page (submitted together with the manuscript body) should include:Authors must also submit a short biographical statement (maximum 80 words) describing their current position and research interests. This information should be entered into the OJS system.
- Article title
- Author’s full name (without academic titles)
- Institutional affiliation
- Corresponding author’s email address
Formatting Guidelines
- Font & Spacing:
- Main text: PT Serif, 12pt, 1.15 line spacing, 8pt spacing after paragraph, 0pt before paragraph.
- Abstract: PT Serif, 11pt, 1.15 line spacing, 0pt before & after paragraph.
- Block quotations: Indented 1 cm, PT Serif 12pt, single line spacing, 8pt spacing before and after paragraph.
- Margins:
- Top & Bottom: 2.54 cm, Left & Right: 1.91 cm.
- Paper size: F4.
- Headers & Footers:
- Header: Author’s name, submission title, and submission year.
- Footer: Journal name, volume, issue, and page number.
- Font: PT Serif, 10pt, light gray color.
- Columns:
- Use a single-column format.
- No first-line indent (0 cm).
Manuscript Structure
Title
- Heading 1: Must be less than 12 words, capitalized, and in PT Serif, 14pt.
- Heading 2: Bold, italic, PT Serif 12pt.
- Heading 3: Italic, PT Serif 12pt.
- No more than three levels of headings.
Introduction (15-20% of total article length)
- Includes background, research context, literature review, and research objectives.
- Must be written in paragraph form (not bullet points).
Methodology (10-15% of total article length)
- Describes research design, data sources, data collection, and data analysis.
Findings and Discussion (75% of total article length)
- Presents analyzed results and their interpretation using relevant theories and literature.
Conclusion
- Summarizes, restates, and evaluates the main findings.
Tables & Figures
- Tables:
- Use horizontal lines only.
- Table number and title should be placed above the table, aligned left.
- Figures:
- Figure number and title should be placed below the figure, centered.
- Captions must include the source in parentheses.
- Caption Formatting (Tables & Figures):
- PT Serif, 9pt, italicized, single spacing, 10pt spacing after paragraph, 0pt before paragraph.
References & Citations
- All cited sources must appear in the reference list, and vice versa.
- Reference Formatting:
- PT Serif, 12pt, 1.15 line spacing, 0pt before & after paragraph, hanging indent 0.75 cm.
- In-text citations:Follows APA 7th Edition citation style.
- Example: (Smith, 2020).
- If quoting directly, include page numbers: (Smith, 2020, p. 78).
Submission & Review Process
- Proofs will be sent to the author for correction and must be returned within the given deadline.
- Submissions should be made via the OJS system on the Sosietas Journal Website.
- If the OJS system encounters issues, submissions may be sent to journalsosiologi@upi.edu.
- Please note that email submissions may take longer to process than those submitted via OJS.
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it under consideration by another journal (unless an explanation has been provided in the Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in DOCX, DOC, RTF, ODT, Markdown, or LaTeX format. PDF files are not accepted.
- The abstract does not exceed 250 words and follows the structure specified in the author template. The abstract is accompanied by two to five keywords, separated by commas.
- Institutional affiliations and the email address of the corresponding author appear only on the title page. The journal administration will separate this page from the article body during the review process, provided that the submission passes the plagiarism check.
- If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Reviewhave been followed. No identifying information (e.g., author names, acknowledgements, references to previous works by the author) appears in the main manuscript.
- All in-text citations use bracket formatting (Last Name, Year). Direct quotations include page numbers (e.g., p. 78 or pp. 78–89).
- The submission adheres to the author template.
- Tables use horizontal lines only and follow the formatting guidelines in the author template.
- Figures include numbered captions, with sources cited in parentheses.
- All sources cited in the article appear in the reference list, and vice versa. At least 80% of references are from the last 4 years. The reference list follows APA 7th Edition formatting.

- Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.
- Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in this journal.
- Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) after the submission process, as it can lead to productive exchanges, as well as earlier and greater citation of published work (See The Effect of Open Access)
