Abstract: This research is motivated by the low ability of mathematical representation of second grade students of SDN S in Bandung City. This is because learning is still centered on the teacher. To overcome these problems, researchers apply a contextual approach. This study aims to describe the application of contextual approach to increase the ability of mathematical representation of second grade students of SDN S in Bandung. The research method used is Action Research Class Kemmis and Mc model. Taggart which consists of planning, execution, observation and reflection are done as much as 3 cycles. The findings in this study are the increase of the average value and the percentage of mathematical ability completeness from cycle I to cycle III. The conclusion of this research is the application of contextual approach can improve the mathematical representation of students of SDN S in Bandung City.
