Father's Perspective on Early Childhood Parenting Following The Father School Program

Abstract


This study investigates the perspectives of fathers who participated in the Father School Program on early childhood parenting. Employing a phenomenological qualitative approach and Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), the research aims to capture the subjective experiences of fathers and how their participation in the program influences their understanding of their parenting roles. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with three fathers who met specific criteria: they had participated in the Father School Program in Bandung and were willing to be part of the study. The analysis identified key themes related to shifts in the fathers' understanding and parenting practices. The findings reveal that the Father School Program positively impacts fathers' views on early childhood parenting, enhancing their parenting skills and fostering more harmonious relationships with their children. This study highlights the effectiveness of targeted parenting programs in transforming parental roles and improving family dynamics.
