MENINGKATKAN KEKOHESIFAN KELUARGA SISWA DENGAN KOMBINASI STRATEGI EMPTY CHAIR DAN REFRAMING

Abstract


Stimulated by various phenomena indicating the low of family cohesiveness, this research aimed at examining the effectiveness of empty chair and reframing strategy in improving students’ family cohessiveness. Combination of empty chair and reframing strategy is a counseling technique carried out by supporting conselee to express hir/her negative experiences relating to his/her family through an “empty chair” game and then identify alternatives and modify them to possitive things (reframing). Involving six students of eight graders in a public secondary school in Taman Sidoarjo with a very low family cohesiveness (disconnected), this study was conducted through singlesubject method with A-B design. This study found that in general the combination of empty chair and reframing strategies was effektive in improving the students’ family cohesiveness. Analysis in each aspect indicated that the combination of the two strategies was effektive in improving all aspects of family cohesiveness on four students, but less effective in improving aspects of time and boundaries on two students.
