Author Guidelines

Strength and Conditioning - Exercise Science Journal (SCESJ) invites authors to submit high-quality research articles, reviews, and case studies within the field of exercise science, sports conditioning, and related disciplines. To ensure the clarity and consistency of all submissions, authors must follow the guidelines outlined below.

1. General Submission Information

  • Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the journal’s online submission system (insert submission link).

  • Submissions should be in English. Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to seek assistance with proofreading before submission.

  • The manuscript must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

  • Authors must ensure that their work complies with ethical standards and all appropriate permissions and consents are obtained for any data, images, or other materials used.

2. Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should be structured as follows:

  1. Title Page

    • Title of the manuscript: concise, clear, and reflective of the content.

    • Full names of all authors, along with their institutional affiliations.

    • Corresponding author’s contact information, including email address.

  2. Abstract

    • Provide a brief summary of the study (150-250 words).

    • Clearly state the research question, methods, results, and conclusion.

  3. Keywords

    • List 4-6 keywords that accurately describe the content of the manuscript.

  4. Main Text

    • Introduction: Present the background, purpose, and research question. Briefly review relevant literature and highlight the gap your study addresses.

    • Methods: Provide a clear and detailed description of the research design, participants, procedures, and analysis methods. Ensure that the methodology is reproducible.

    • Results: Present findings in a clear and concise manner, using tables, figures, and statistical analysis as needed. Avoid interpretation of results in this section.

    • Discussion: Interpret and discuss the findings in relation to previous research, limitations, and implications. Suggest areas for future research.

    • Conclusion: Summarize key findings and their practical implications.

  5. References

    • Follow APA 7th Edition citation style. References should be listed at the end of the manuscript in alphabetical order.

    • In-text citations should be formatted as follows: (Author, Year) or (Author1 & Author2, Year).

  6. Acknowledgments (if applicable)

    • Acknowledge any funding sources, technical assistance, or contributions from individuals who do not meet authorship criteria.

  7. Conflict of Interest Statement

    • Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that might be perceived as influencing the research.

  8. Ethical Considerations

    • If applicable, include a statement regarding ethical approval from an institutional review board (IRB) or ethics committee. Authors must follow the ethical guidelines for research with human or animal subjects.

3. Formatting Requirements

  • Manuscript Length: Articles should be between 4,000 and 8,000 words (including references, tables, and figures). Reviews may be longer, depending on content.

  • File Format: Submit your manuscript in Microsoft Word (DOC or DOCX) format.

  • Font: Use Times New Roman, 12-point font.

  • Spacing: Double-space all text, including the abstract, main text, and references.

  • Margins: 1-inch (2.5 cm) margins on all sides.

  • Headings: Use clear and concise headings (e.g., Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion). Use no more than 3 levels of headings.

  • Tables and Figures: Tables and figures should be placed at the end of the manuscript, after the references. Each table/figure must be numbered and have a clear, descriptive title. High-quality images should be submitted in separate files (JPEG, PNG, or TIFF).

4. Review and Revision

  • Manuscripts undergo a peer review process (double-blind review) as described in our Peer Review Process section.

  • Authors are required to make revisions based on the feedback provided by reviewers. Revised manuscripts should be submitted along with a detailed revision note explaining how the reviewers’ comments have been addressed.

  • Authors may be required to revise their manuscript multiple times before final acceptance.

5. Submission Checklist

Before submitting your manuscript, ensure that the following items are complete:

  • Manuscript formatted according to the guidelines

  • Title page, abstract, and keywords included

  • References formatted according to APA 7th edition style

  • Tables and figures included (if applicable)

  • Ethical approval statement (if applicable)

  • Conflict of interest statement included

6. Copyright and Licensing

  • Upon acceptance of the manuscript for publication, authors will be required to sign a copyright transfer agreement or a licensing agreement, depending on the journal’s publication model.

  • Authors retain the right to use their work for personal and educational purposes, but publication in SCESJ grants the journal the right to distribute the work in accordance with its licensing policy.

7. Open Access and Fees

  • SCESJ follows an open access model, and articles are freely available to readers worldwide.

  • If applicable, authors may be required to pay publication fees to cover production costs.
