MANAJEMEN PENGEMBANGAN MUTU SMA SWASTA DI KOTA MEDAN
Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masih rendahnya Mutu SMA Swasta di Kota Medan. Penentu utama dari mutu proses pembelajaran itu adalah kompetensi guru dan interaksinya dengan siswa dalam proses belajar mengajar. Tinggi rendahnya kompetensi guru itu sendiri dapat ditentukan oleh kepemimpinan kepala sekolah dan budaya sekolah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengkaji dan menganalisis pengaruh kepemimpinan, budaya sekolah, terhadap peningkatan kompetensi guru untuk meningkatkan mutu SMA swasta, baik secara parsial maupun secara simultan. Populasi penelitian ini adalah guru SMA swasta di Kota Medan yang berjumlah 1.648. Metode penelitian adalah metode Explanatory Survey Method dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Analisis dilakukan menggunakan Analisis Jalur. Hasil penelitian sebagai berikut: (1) kepemimpinan kepala sekolah, budaya sekolah, kompetensi guru tergolong tinggi, mutu SMA swasta secara keseluruhan kategori tinggi; (2) kepemimpinan kepala sekolah dan budaya sekolah berpengaruh signifikan terhadap peningkatan kompetensi guru; (3) kepemimpinan kepala sekolah dan budaya sekolah melalui kompetensi guru secara langsung dan tidak langsung berpengaruh terhadap mutu sekolah.
The background of this research is the low quality of private senior high school in Medan City. The objective of this research is to scrutinize and analyzed the effect of leadership and school culture on teacher competence to improve the quality of private senior high school, partially and simultaneously. The population of this research were 1,648 teachers of private senior high school in Medan. The sampel random sampling was used in which the samples were 312 teachers. The research method is explanatory survey method using quantitative approach. The data analysis was Path Analysis (standardized regression). The results of this research are as follow: (1) the leadership/principalship is categorized as high, the school culture is high, teacher competence is high, and the school quality is also high; (2) the leadership/principalship and school culture have significant and positive effect on teacher competence; (3) the leadership/principalship and school culture through the teacher competence, directly and indirectly have positive and significant effect on school qualityKeywords
