Application of the BBM Method (Playing, Singing, Doing) in an Effort to Improve Understanding of Animals
Abstract
English is a very important language in the international world, especially in the current era of globalization. Realizing the reality of the importance of English in the future, learning English as early as possible must be implemented in schools which is one of the efforts to increase individual competence. Elementary school is the most appropriate level to become a forum for efforts to increase individual competence in English. This is a challenge for teachers to improve the understanding of elementary students' vocabulary which must be in accordance with the characteristics of students. The purpose of this classroom action research is to describe increasing children's understanding, especially for the ability to motivate themselves and understand animal material through the BBM method (Play, Sing, Do). The research subjects were 13 children (5 girls and 8 boys) at SDN Cipanas Kab. Tasikmalaya. The research took place in four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. This study obtained results based on the teacher's perspective of 95.4% and the student's perspective of 90%. Thus, the researcher concludes that the BBM method has a very large contribution to increasing students' understanding of animals at SDN Cipanas. In addition, the results of this study can be one of the inspirations for school institutions to accommodate students in learning English, considering how important English is in the future.
