SEBARAN JENIS LAMUN TERHADAP BIOTA LAUT DI SEKITAR PERAIRAN PULAU PANJANG KABUPATEN SERANG BANTEN
Abstract
The marine waters around Indonesia have very rich biodiversity, including seagrasses and various types of marine biota. Marine waters and their ecosystems have a very important role in maintaining environmental balance and providing economic benefits for the people who live around them. Seagrasses are higher plants (Magnoliophyta) that can adjust to living immersed in the shallow sea (Wood, et al., 1969). Seagrass meadows also function as nutrient filters from rivers or the sea, dampen waves and currents, and improve seawater quality by helping to settle substrates and stabilize sediments. Physically, seagrass meadows help to reduce the waves and currents heading towards the beach, filter sediments dissolved in water, stabilize the sediment bed, and trap sediments and resist erosion (Fonseca, et al., 1982). This research was conducted on October 21, 2023 in Serang Regency, Banten Province. The materials used in this study were seagrass plants and biota around the waters of Panjang Island. Measurement of water quality parameters both physical and chemical include water temperature, depth, pH (hydrogen potential), and salinity. In general, based on the results of research conducted in Panjang Island Waters, Serang Regency, three types of seagrass were found in the observation transects at three stations, namely Cymodocea rotundata, Enhalus acoroides, and Cymodocea serrulata. The distribution of seagrasses at station 1, station 2, and station 3 is dominated by different types of seagrasses. At station 1 dominated by seagrass species Cymodocea rotundata which can be found in various habitats, this type of seagrass is often found in shallow areas to exposed areas when the tide recedes
