Abstract

This research discusses the importance of teaching Indonesian grammar and spelling in elementary schools (SD) as part of forming basic literacy skills in students. Mastery of good grammar and spelling at an early age is a necessary foundation for developing effective language skills, including reading, writing and speaking. However, teaching grammar often encounters obstacles. Therefore, creative approaches and teaching methods are needed that are appropriate to the characteristics of elementary school students. Teachers who are able to accommodate students' needs with the right approach can increase students' motivation and understanding in learning grammar and spelling. This research method involves qualitative library research. In conclusion, effective grammar and spelling teaching in elementary school requires a structured yet flexible approach, with the aim of strengthening students' literacy skills and providing a strong foundation for academic success at later levels of education.
