Kontribusi Buku Teks Sejarah dalam Mengembangkan Historical Imagination Peserta Didik

Abstract


This paper aimed to see how history textbooks contribute to stimulating student’s historical imagination in learning history. Historical Imagination as explained by Collingwood, is already there within students and  teacher should be able to stimulate student’s historical imagination in order to use it in learning history. Student’s object of learning in History are past events and figures which mostly difficult to be understood or remembered, so to be able to visit and understand historical events student must be able to use their imagination. This is why historical imagination holds a significant role because it helps them to understand. In order to develop student’s historical imagination, textbook can be use as a media or tool for learning. An interesting textbooks will help students to imagining what the past event and figures was like. Interesting textbook does not mean that the author have to get rid of standard rules by the government. The content of the textbook must be written in accordance with historical facts and curriculum, also complementary components such as illustration, layout, language style and many more must be adjusted with the criteria for developing Historical Imagination. The analysis of this paper highlight on three history textbooks from three different countries, Indonesia, South Korea and Brazil to see the comparisons focused on the explanation of the content or material and also the display of the textbook. The results show that South Korean history textbooks are more capable of stimulating students' historical imagination when analyzed by various indicators, followed by Brazil and then Indonesia. Chritical discourse analysis selected as a tool of analysis in this paper for the author to be able to get the deep analysis. Chritical discourse analysis is one of the qualitative research approaches.


Abstrak

Tulisan ini dibuat bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana buku teks sejarah berkontribusi dalam menstimulus imajinasi kesejarahan peserta didik dalam pembelajaran sejarah. Imajinasi kesejarah atau Historical Imagination peserta didik seperti yang diungkapkan oleh Collingwood, sudah ada dalam diri peserta didik dan tugas guru ialah bagaimana menstimulus imajinasi kesejarahan peserta didik melalui penggunaan media agar mereka mampu untuk menggunakannya dalam pembelajaran sejarah. Peserta didik dihadapkan pada peristiwa-peristiwa yang lampau yang sulit untuk dipahami, sehingga untuk mengunjungi dan memahami peristiwa sejarah salah satu caranya ialah memfungsikan kemampuan imajinasi mereka. Terkadang buku teks sejarah dengan penjelasan fakta-faktanya kurang mampu menstimulus imajinasi kesejarahan peserta didik. Sehingga dalam membantu hal tersebut, imajinasi kesejarahan harus dikembangkan dalam pembelajaran, salah satunya dengan bantuan media pembelajaran berupa buku teks. Buku teks yang menarik akan membantu peserta didik dalam menangani masalah ini. Menarik disini bukan berarti harus mengesampingkan aturan-aturan yang berlaku di Indonesia, isinya tetap berbobot dan sesuai kurikulum namun penguatan konten harus disertai berbagai macam aspek dan ornamen lain yang dapat memenuhi kriteria pengembangan Historical Imagination. Tuisan ini menyoroti tiga buku teks sejarah dari tiga negara berbeda yaitu Indonesia, Korea Selatan Selatan dan Brazil untuk melihat perbandingan dalam penyajian materi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa buku teks sejarah Korea Selatan lebih mempuni dalam menstimulus imajinasi kesejarahan siswa jika dianalisis dengan berbagai macam indikator, disusul Brazil kemudian Indonesia. Analisis wacana sebagai bagian dari metode kualitatif digunakan sebagai metode penelitian dengan indikator-indikator historical imagination dari berbagai sudut pandang sebagai pisau analisisnya. Namun dalam tuisan ini bukan hanya beberapa wacana saja yang dianalisis melainkan terdapat beberapa gambar yang dianalisis untuk pendalaman analisis.
