THE USE OF RELAXATION MUSIC THERAPY IN MATHEMATICS LEARNING TO OVERCOME STUDENTS' BOREDOM AT SMA BPI 1 BANDUNG
Abstract
Many factors can prevent students from achieving optimal learning outcomes, including academic pressure. Mathematics is the most stressful subject for many students. Not only do they find it difficult, but they also consider it a scary and stressful subject. The pressure experienced can cause stress, disrupting the students' learning process both physically and psychologically. If not managed well, this stress can lead to boredom. Providing support to students experiencing learning boredom is crucial in addressing learning problems. One way to address this issue is by using music as a therapeutic medium to reduce the level of boredom in learning. This research aimed to examine the application and results of using relaxation music therapy in mathematics learning to overcome learning boredom at SMA BPI 1 Bandung. The method used in this research was Classroom Action Research. The research began with the pre-planning stage of identifying problems and implementing actions over three cycles. The results show that the application of relaxation music therapy in mathematics learning was carried out in three stages: during the initial activity without therapeutic instructions, during the core activity with therapeutic instructions, and during the pause activity when students worked on practice questions. The use of music therapy reduced the number of students experiencing boredom and lowered the level of boredom.
